Jones, originally founded as Jones Sign, began as a single sign shop in the Midwest. More than a century later, the company has grown into a nationwide leader in specialty signage manufacturing and custom architectural solutions.

Through continuous expansion of capabilities, adoption of new technologies, and a commitment to innovation, Jones serves clients across North America.
Today, our team operates from four facilities, where we continue to push boundaries and deliver forward-thinking solutions.

1910– 1950

Open for Business

Andy T. Jones, a first-generation American from Denmark, opened Jones Sign in 1910. By 1914, he opened a second shop. The 1920s were a time of quick growth followed by continuous, steady growth into the 30s and 40s even during the Great Depression and WWII.

1950 – 1960

Growth

The 1950s were an exciting time – tremendous growth and hiring was happening. The first true advertising for the company and hiring of full time sales people happened along with a name change to Jones Sign Co. In 1959, Jones Sign Co. built a warehouse on Broadway street to keep up with the growing business.

1960 – 1980

The End of an Era

In 1964, our founder, Andy Jones, passed away. This marked the end of an era for Jones Sign. Andy grew the company from a small room above a cafe on Washington Street into a large, successful enterprise. The 1970s were calmer in comparison to the rapid growth Jones Sign experienced over the last several decades.

1980 – 2000

New Leadership

The 1980s came with the greatest change since the company's inception. The company was sold to John & Tony Mortensen. Under this new leadership, rapid growth and expansion was just around the corner. The 1990s were an amazing time for Jones Sign as the world of digital printing emerged and changed the sign industry forever. in 1999, with the growth of the internet, Jones Sign launched it's first website.

2000 – 2010

More Tech, More Manufacturing

With a new location and expanded manufacturing space, Jones was poised for more growth. Technology upgrades allowed new capabilites to even better serve our clients. Jones continued to expand our team bringing on new employees that would take majors roles with the company and complete state-of-the-art projects. Jones was established as a premier player in the American sign industry. In 2026 our owner, Tony Mortensen, passed away.

2010 – 2025

Coast to Coast

Jones Sign became a national brand serving clients from coast to coast. New offices, new people, new opportunities – and new challenges. Jones Sign aquired businesses and expanded operations and offices to Pensylvannia, Florida, Texas, Nevada, Colorado, Alabama, and Virginia. In the early 2020s, Jones Sign became six separate entities all with the same dedication and work ethic since Andy T. Jones first established the company.
